Ellen Taylor, the old executive director of the Harness Horse Youth Foundation, will be greeted as the Lady Pace Honoree from 2025 by the Delaware County Fair.
A resident of Hamilton County, In, Taylor was introduced at a young age to race by her parents Richard and Margot, both of whom induce all in the Indiana Standardbred Hall of Fame.
At the age of 16 she started working together with the Harness Horse Youth Foundation (HYF) as a camp coordinator. In 1990, Taylor seamlessly stepped into the role of executive director. Every summer HYF travels across the Midwest and the east coast that introduces and trains thousands of young people to use racing. As a result, she was the special recipient of the HTA in 2002 and was again honored with the Stan Bergstein Proximity Award in 2009.
Taylor has been cited by numerous organizations for its dedication to the sport, including the President’s President’s Award of the United States Trotting Association (2015) and the Alan Prince -member of the Year Award of the US Harness Writers Association (2015).
She was admitted to the Indiana Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2024 and will be anchored in the Communicators Hall of Fame in Goshen, NY next summer.
Taylor lives in Anderson, with her old important other, Robert “Hollywood” Heyden.
Taylor will be honored after the Ohio Breeders Championship for three -year -old Merrieveeulen Pacers in a winner Circle Ceremony on Jug Day (Thursday 18 September).
