In his weekly media call, Head Coach said Jay Parolfo second year confirmed that Cole Eiserman returns to the line-up on Saturday, just like his classmate Nick Roukounakis. Eiserman has been out since October 25 with a leg injury, while Roukounakis has been sidelined since the preseason, reportedly with a broken hand.

Pandolfo indicated he would connect Eiserman to the center Brandon Svobodawho has been very good in the middle of the ice” and in a draw. The Sacha BoisvertRyder RitchieOwen McLaughlin line – four goals last Saturday – remains intact.

He added “I really liked the Bednarik-Murtagh-Harvey line Saturday night, until Murtagh was kicked out of the game. They had quite a few scoring opportunities.”

When asked if he had seen improvements in puck management and breakouts, he said “I thought overall last weekend was definitely better. It certainly wasn’t perfect. I do think we were in better places and supported each other.”

Regarding the power play that only came about twice in the last 11 chances, he noted that while Eiserman was missed, there was also a lack of execution. Unlike the penalty kill, Pandolfo says the power play has yet to find its identity.

Terrier captain Gavin McCarthy has been named to the U.S. Collegiate Selects squad that will compete in the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, beginning December 26. First up for Team USA in the six-team event is Team Canada.

McCarthy, a Buffalo Sabers draft pick, has a 2-2-4 line in 11 games with 13 blocks and is +8, second best in Hockey East, just behind Cole Hutson (+9).

“There aren’t many guys on our team on that side [plus/minus] right now,” Pandolfo noted. ‘The fact that he is +8 says something about his game.’

This is the first year that active colleagues will represent the US in the Spengler Cup. In previous years, Americans played in Europe, including both David Silk And Tom O’Regan in 1988 made up the bulk of the roster.
