EIHL Challenge Cup: what happens next? | Pro Hockey News

After tonight’s Elimination Match we will find out which four teams will participate in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

As described in the format changethe semi-finals will be divided based on the winning percentages of the teams. As group winners, Sheffield and Belfast are #1 and #2. The seedings for spots #3 and #4 will not be known until after the Elimination Match. Coventry Blaze finished the group stage with 60%, Glasgow Clan 67% and Nottingham Panthers 60%.

So if the Clan win they will be at number 3 and Coventry at number 4. If Nottingham get through that match they will be in fourth place and Coventry in third place.

  • If Glasgow wins the Elimination Match, the semi-finals will be:
    • Sheffield Steelers vs Coventry Blaze
    • Belfast Giants vs Glasgow Clan
  • If Nottingham wins the Elimination Match, the semi-finals will be:
    • Sheffield Steelers vs Nottingham Panthers
    • Belfast Giants vs Coventry Blaze

The dates for the semi-finals are February 11, 18 and 26, 2026, as necessary for a two-legged home and away series. The data used by teams depends on the availability of their own arena. We already have ice availability for all teams and would like to be able to confirm the semi-finals on Thursday, pending confirmation that the teams’ travel plans have been booked. No public announcement can be made until travel, which will likely include flights, is confirmed.
