Real Club de Polo has declined in self-assured form in the new season, starting with back-to-back clean sheets to start their deficiency defense on the front foot.
Marcos Giralt is the new keeper between the posts after the move from Luis Calzado to SV Kampong this summer and joins the Barcelona club from Taburiente to replace the Spanish number one.
He was made a number of additions this summer by Ramón Sala, including the return of Marc Miralles from Bloemendaal and the signing sessions of internationals Nico Álvarez of RS Theis and Bruno Ávila from Club Egara.
All three have already scored in their opening victories, Miralles scored twice in the victory over RS-tenizes (3-0) while Álvarez and and and Ávila were about to Taburiente (8-0). The Japanese Olympian Kentaro Fukuda is another exciting addition.
They join a polo side with a strong backbone with people such as Guillermo Fortuño, Salva Armenteras, Aruau de Bruijn and Iñaki Zaldua while they want to show off their home fans in the Eduardo Dualde stadium.
On the list of departure they have seen German stars Teo Hinrichs, Benedikt Schwarzhaupt and Robert Duckscheer, while club legend Xavi Lleonart has retired.
This year their 16th season will be in the EHL, making them one of the most frequent participants in the competition and they want to reach the last eight phase for the ninth time, starting with a tough opening date against Calzado and his new Kampong side.
