Eddie Howe Liverpool – press conference – August 22, 2025:

Eddie Howe on the crowd and atmosphere of Monday in St James’ Park:

“The first home game will always be electric.

“Under the lights, evening games are always very special for us.

“I have no doubt that this will be a really passionate representation of home support.

“We have to use that, but not be reckless with it.

“We must concentrate and deliver our game plan, but the use of the energy of the crowd will be vital to us.”

Eddie Howe on Jacob Ramsey:

“He will be available.

“We still have training sessions to go before the competition, but he is in a good place and has looked really impressive in his first few days.

“Technically, very good, very intelligent and I think he will add a lot to the team.

“He has striking qualities.”

Eddie Howe about Anthony Gordon, his adaptability and role in the middle against Aston Villa:

“He has done enough to do the work really well for the team.

“I have no problem playing him there a number of times, both as a starter and a replacement.

“He plays differently than other strikers, but that can be positive.

“He has a devastating pace, a really good work ethics and he scored goals.

“I think he played very well last week in many different phases of his game.”

Eddie Howe about the recovery of Joe Willock van Injury and Fitness:

“Joe trained on Tuesday and Wednesday and trained very well.

“When he went into the game (in South Korea), I thought he would be in the longer term, it didn’t look good.

“Credit to him.

“He is fit again and looks good.”

Eddie Howe on his defensive options in the middle of the defense:

“Fabian Schar and then Burn were excellent against Aston Villa.

“Defending, leading, organizing and ensuring that we have concentrated during the game.

“It would have been very easy for one slip to cost us.

“I thought we looked really good in that respect.

“Sven (Botman), Malick (Thiaw) and Jamaal (Lascelles) are all excellent players individually and will give us a lot this year, but if you are not in the team, you must be patient, so if you get a chance, you can grab it.”
