Eddie Howe delivers key messages ahead of Newcastle United vs Manchester City at the Etihad

Eddie Howe has spoken before Newcastle United take on Manchester City.

The competition schedule remains brutal.

Including so many games against…Manchester City.

United hopes to achieve three away wins in a row.

Wins against Spurs, Aston Villa and Qarabag FK in quick succession.

Newcastle United now take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad.

Eddie Howe spoke at his pre-match press conference at Newcastle United ahead of the clash with Manchester City:

“A lot of positive things have come out of the last few games.

“Three away wins is a great return.

“The performances were very good and the individual performances were a lot stronger.

“I am happy with how the team is functioning and we want to continue that good feeling.”

Eddie Howe on dealing with midweek travel:

‘You have to. I don’t think there is a choice.

“In some ways, the need to recover and be back to your best is a sobering thought when you play against Man City, and that in itself takes the mind off looking for excuses.

“We have to show up and be the best version of ourselves and give everything we can to win another game. The players know they have to be ready.”

Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon:

“Anthony has some very good qualities in that position [centre-forward].

“His urgent intensity, but also his tactical understanding of when to do it and how to do it, is of the highest level.

“A few of our goals came from his wins and that is no coincidence, but his very good judgment. I was delighted with his performance.”

Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento:

“He’s making good progress, but I don’t think we’re going to cut too much time off the early March target for him.”

Eddie Howe about Sven Botman:

“Better news about Sven, he could be in and around this game against Manchester City.”

Eddie Howe is Yoane Wis:

“I don’t think he will be available tomorrow, but I don’t think he will be too far away from the game against Qarabag.

“It was a nasty blow during training, but I think he’s doing well.”
