Eddie Howe has spoken before Newcastle United take on Crystal Palace.
The next NUFC Premier League match.
Kick-off at St James’ Park at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
Crystal Palace are currently tenth in the table, one point and three places ahead of Newcastle United. However, Oliver Glasner saw his team pick up just one point from their last four Premier League games.
Eddie Howe’s side want to follow up their 3-1 victory at Turf Moor on Tuesday.
Eddie Howe speaks at Newcastle United’s pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Crystal Palace:
“It will be a difficult match.
“Their away form is very good, a very good defensive team.
“Solid, difficult to score against and they also have good attackers in the other direction.
“They are a team we will not underestimate, but it is a match where we can do well if we can play at our best level.”
Eddie Howe about the busy performance schedule:
“This will be a season-defining month for us with very minimal rest between games.
“You look at the month as a whole and there are some great games in it for us.
“Some truly delightful occasions, but we have some tough challenges ahead and the start of the month should certainly be fruitful.”
Eddie Howe on the Burnley match:
“There was a period of 10/15 minutes where we turned the ball over a bit too much and that gave them confidence and belief to get back into the game.
“That’s frustrating from our perspective because after ten minutes I already had a two-goal lead. I expected us to go ahead and consolidate at that point.
“We have our themes and areas that we are focusing on and currently trying to implement that will make us stronger and better.”
Eddie Howe on Lewis Hall:
“He should be fine. We’ll take a closer look at him today.”
He is an important player for us.
“He is technically excellent. An attacking, front-foot defender and he will only get better the more games he plays.”
“Fitness-wise, he is getting back into his very best shape.
“He is a real talent and we have to try to keep him on the field.”
Eddie Howe on which players could return from injury on Sunday:
“We’ve had a few days of training, but Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier have worked really well. They’ve had a few recovery periods, so they’re both close.
“Emil Krafth is further back.
“Sven Botman and Anthony Elanga are both very close.
“Sven trained with the group and it was great, so I imagine he will be in and around this [Crystal Palace] game.
“Anthony has not trained with us yet, but is very close.”
