Easter Jack explodes wide for 16th win of the season

Easter Jack (Dover Dan) got a perfect second win from driver Brett Miller to record his 16th win of the season in the $22,000 conditioned trot Wednesday (Dec. 3) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

At the start, the top three raced in post position order, with Angel Nation (David Miller) on top in the opening quarter in:27.4.

Sayinwhatimthinkin (Trevor Smith) was taken off the rail from third position, providing cover for the punter’s choice, Easter Jack, at the half-mile station in :57.3.

The field of seven gathered at the three-quarter mark in 1:25.1.

Brett Miller sent the eventual winner three wide around the final corner and outsmarted his challengers to take the win in 1:53.4.

The famous father (Luke Plano) came from a long way back, but came a long way short in second place. The Cs Flying Co-Pilot (Clint Coy) in his pocket finished Sayinwhatimthinkin in third.

In the $19,000 conditioned trot, Luke Hanners gave Elegant Resolve a perfect pocket trip, scoring a 9-1 strike over the pace-setting Pizzelle (David Miller) in 1:55.

E-pass (Chris Page) and Elegant Resolve battled for early command, with Pizzelle caught three wide in the first corner.

David Miller was forced to send his attack into the lead at the quarter in:27.3, the half in:56.2 and three quarters in 1:26.2.

Luke Hanners pulled out Elegant Resolve around the final bend and rode 2.5 lengths down the wire past the favourite.

My friend Sparky (Cam McCown) completed the trifecta.

Saturday’s card will feature the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association’s annual Charity Night, pitting 10 Dayton-area charities against each other for a total of $32,000.
