UFC legend Dustin Poirier is one of several fighters named as part of the cast in the upcoming Road House sequel – with Conor McGregor seemingly not joining the cast.
Many fans will remember that last year, Conor McGregor starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in a remake of the iconic 1989 Road House film. Conor was quite adept at filming, and while some doubted his acting ability, it certainly seemed to go down well with many of his fans. Unfortunately, in the wake of the Irishman’s controversies outside of Hollywood and mixed martial arts, it appears a decision has been made not to return for Road House 2.
Instead, those casting the sequel have chosen to go in a different direction. It’s the kind of movie that will always need some real fighters to lend some legitimacy to the project, and they certainly will get that based on the initial reports of who will be in the film.
As reported by TermDustin Poirier will be starring in the Road House movie, and he’ll be joined by some familiar faces.
The cast of Road House 2 includes some big names
Anyone worried that Road House 2 doesn’t feel like a real martial arts movie will probably be happy to hear about some of the names that will be taking part in the filming. Performers announced so far include Rico Verhoeven, Michael Chandler, Michael “Venom” Page, Dustin Poirier, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Tyron Woodley.
The production is said to be even bigger than that of the first film, with filming taking place between Britain, the US and Malta.
Who knows, maybe Conor will show up at some point, but right now that doesn’t seem to be in the works.
