Jayden Schaper, a 24-year-old from Benoni who has turned pro since 2020, claimed his first DP World Tour victory, which also gave him his first on the Sunshine Tour, with a closing 67 (-3, five birdies, two bogeys), preventing Norris from overtaking him with a 62 (-8, one eagle, seven birdies, one bogey). Norris defended his title from last year with a remarkable comeback, climbing from 13th place. He attempted to repeat this feat from the 17th, but after the tie, despite making a birdie, he was helpless against his opponent’s Eagle Putt in the play-offs. Schaper was rewarded with €255,000 from a prize pool of €1,500,000.
In third place with a score of 199 (-15) was Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra, who had experience on the LIV golf course, and then in fourth place with a score of 201 (-13), completing the triumph of home players Oliver Bekker, Christiaan Burke and Louis Oosthuizen, another member of the Arab Super League. In seventh place with a score of 202 (-12) were England’s John Parry and France’s Martin Couvra.
Andrea Pavan fell in the third round, moving from tenth to 64th with a score of 211 (68 67 76, -3), and Guido Migliozzi, 89th with a score of 143 (69 74, -1), and Francesco Laporta, 139th with a score of 148 (77 71, +4), both dropped out of the cut after two rounds.
The Rules of Golf are a set of standards and procedures by which the sport of golf must be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf worldwide, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee composed of members of the R&A and the USGA oversees the rules and refines them every four years. The latest revision came into effect on January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf are generally divided into two main categories: changes that improve understanding and changes that reduce penalties in certain cases to provide balance. The rulebook, entitled “Rules of Golf”, is published regularly and also contains rules for amateur status. In Italy, the Italian Golf Federation is responsible for overseeing competitions by enforcing the rules of the R&A, ensuring that these rules are adhered to by clubs, associations and their members, and for administering the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
