MONTICELLO, NY.- Alan Schwartz jumped off the cover with even-money crayon Doo Wop Kid (Wishing stone) to take a 1:59.3 victory in the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot’s only $7,500 dash at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Nov. 12).
Schwartz started from post 4 and put Doo Wop Kid towards the middle of the pack, while Woodside Genius (driven by Bob Krivelin) took the lead 10-1 in a first quarter of :29.1. Woodside Genius took out pylon starter Star Hairdresser (Andrew Adamczyk) and settled the pace to a :59.3 half, before Schwartz spun to the outside with Doo Wop Kid and got coverage from The Last Chapter (Joe Lee).
The Last Chapter advanced to the edge and pushed Woodside Genius to three-quarters in 1:29.3, while Doo Wop Kid prepared a three-wide attack for the final turn.
Doo Wop Kid never relented in his wide chase and charged forward in the lane to take the win by three-quarter lengths over The Last Chapter in second. Fanatic (McKenzie Sowers) closed from last place for third, another three lengths behind, and Star Hairdresser tired to fourth.
