Retired Invercargill Plumber Trevor Ryder has had a great run with the offspring of Star of the Ball and the record of the mare was extended today when Donny does so (Dear Lou) MAIDEN Rangen made.

After the early rush, trainer driver Kirstin Green established the three -year -old of the pace. When Stablemate Shergar improved, Green jumped on his back and was parked after 200 meters.

Donny Do is raced by Trevor and Linda Ryder and is named after Linda’s deceased father Don Wright, who was a racing writer for the Southland Times for many years.

“He is a beautiful horse with a lot of ability, but he is a bit immature in the brain. He can sometimes panic and that is why you have to sit quietly and hold because he can jump out of his equipment. He gets better and is now going for a good enchantment. I think he will come back a nice horse.

Star of the Ball was bought by Ryder as a yearling with the help of Peter Lagan, Sandy Yardley and Gareth Dixon.
