Gianluigi Donnarumma has written a moving message to the PSG fans who tackle the transfer speculation around his future in the club.
The goalkeeper was excluded from the team that traveled to Udine for the UEFA Super Cup collision on Wednesday evening with Tottenham Hotspur after he was frozen from training sessions.
PSG wants to sell the 26-year-old after he has not agreed on a new contract. His current conditions will expire next summer, at what time he could leave the club on a free transfer.
Manchester City is reportedly in conversation with the Paris Outfit about a potential deal, while Chelsea and Manchester United are also connected. However, the blues are “not in the race” for his signature, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Donnarumma is about the transfer drama in genuine message to PSG fans
Donnarumma spoke to his situation in a post on Instagram and claimed that “someone” decided that he can no longer be part of the team before he thanked the PSG fans and his teammates for their support.
“To the special Parisian fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything to earn my place next to the field and to defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain,” he wrote.
“Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contributes to the success of the team. I am disappointed and discouraged.
“I hope to have the opportunity to look into the eyes in the eyes and say goodbye as it should be done in the eyes. If that doesn’t happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world for me, and I will never forget it.
“I will always take the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who felt me at home.
“To my teammates – my second family – thanks for every fight, every smile, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers.
“Playing for this club and life in this city has been a huge honor. Thanks, Paris.”
PSG Baas Luis Enrique also tackled the situation prior to the Spurs game and said that “the decision has to do with the profile of the goalkeeper” after they had signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille.
When he asked the future of Donnarumma, he said: “We are not only talking about one of the best keepers in the world, but also about a great person.”
Enrique continued: “The life of a top -level football player, and the same applies to our coaches, is this: it was not an easy decision, but I take full responsibility for it. On the other hand, if these choices were easy, everyone could make them.”
