President Donald Trump Has labeled a negative media attention for him as ‘illegal’.
Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the media representation and stated: “When 97 percent of the stories are bad about a person, it is no longer the freedom of expression.” The basis for his claim remains unclear.
“So I think it is very sad, but I think reporting should at least be accurate, at least accurately to a certain extent. Again, when someone is given, 97% of the stories are bad about a person. That is no longer the freedom of expression,” Trump said on Friday in the White House.
“That is no longer something. That is just cheating. And they cheat, and they really become a member of the Democratic National Committee. That is what they are, the networks, in my opinion. They are just foothills of the Democrat National Committee,” he added.
This statement comes after the indefinite suspension of the Late-Night Host Jimmy Kimmel By Disney. The suspension was activated by the federal communication commissioner Brendan CarrThe suggestion of possible regulatory action against ABC, a Disney network.
Kimmel had recently caused a controversy with his comments about Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and ally of the White House who was shot and killed last week. After the suspension of Kimmel, Carr shocked that the FCC could focus on other shows, including ABC’s ‘The View’.
Trump praised Carr and described him as “incredible” and “a big American.” He disagreed with senator Ted cross Van Texas, who criticized the actions of Carr, as ‘dangerous as hell’ and compared them with a scene from ‘Goodfellas’.

The comments of the president and the subsequent suspension of Kimmel emphasize the continuous tension between the Trump administration and the media.
Trump’s claim that negative coverage is “illegal” could possibly have far -reaching consequences for freedom of expression and press in the country.
The potential regulatory action of the FCC against ABC and others is also apparent, also evokes concern about censorship and the role of the government in regulating media content.
This could be a precedent for future interactions between the government, the media and the freedom of expression.
