Does Baltimore’s signing of Alonso impact the Twins?

Just a quick question…

With Baltimore signing Pete Alonso, could this make a potential trade for Adley Rutschman a reality?

Rutschman is somewhat redundant to Jeffers, both about the same life stats, both about the same age, both expected to make about the same amount of money. The main differences are that Rutschman is a switch hitter while Jeffers is a right-hander and Rutschman is entering the Arb2 year and Jeffers is Arb 3. Twins could keep them both fresh by platooning them. with Rutschman starting against Righties (hitting left) and Jeffers starting against lefties (hitting right) and then Rutschman could DH as a right-handed hitter against lefties.

As for Baltimore, they now have a C/1B/DH triumvirate of Basallo, Alonso and Rutschman. BUT they also have some potential DH quality bats in their organization, making Rutschman a potential odd man out as both Basallo and Alonso are now both signed long-term.

Sure, we just said we wouldn’t trade Ryan or Lopez, but the Orioles are looking for a new starter. I wouldn’t trade either of those for a Rutschman-centric package, but overall I have to wonder: Is Rutschman more available now than he was two days ago? and would there be a match with the Twins?
