The Los Angeles Dodgers provided an unfortunate update with regard to the ankle injury of Tommy Edman.
The Utility star and reigning NLCS MVP worsened his ankle injury last week while playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman.

“He worsened it last week in Arizona who played the outfield,” said Friedman. “He will do everything. But I think the best chance for us to grow strongly now, limits the amount of movement in the outfield. And so for now that is our thought and hopefully we get a few days and they will continue and it will gradually get better and better and is currently opens. But at the moment we are on the side of caution.”
Edman will still be available for the Wild Card series, but has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury for a while now and probably seems to be playing for the second base for the near future.
He was first placed on the wounded list for single inflammation at the beginning of May who kept him outside for about three weeks, including some time before he landed on the IL. He then sprained his ankle by the beginning of August, so that he sidelined for a little more than a month.
In the 67 games he played since his activation in May, Edman only hits .213 with a .579 Ops. Edman’s 30 games he played before the first complications of only saw him .252 touch with 24 RBIs and eight of his 13 total home runs this season.
However, Edman has a talent for setting up things in October.
After hitting .237 in 37 games with the Dodgers last season, Edman had a postsease slashline of .328/.354/.508 with a .862 Ops on the road to the Dodgers’ Eighth World Series Victory.
