General manager Brandon Gomes confirmed that Edman is still expected to be ready around the start of spring training and will soon start his plan to get back on the diamond.

Despite a poor season at the plate, Edman tied his career-high with 13 home runs (for the third time), hitting .225 with a .655 OPS.
He had a solid start to the season, hitting .252 with an .818 OPS, scoring 24 RBIs and eight home runs in his first 30 games of the season. Edman then dealt with right ankle inflammation that ended his season as he ended up on the injured list for about two weeks.
Edman was not the same player in his next 56 games upon his return, hitting .214 with four home runs and 20 RBIs. Edman found himself back on the injured list in early August with a sprained ankle, this time sidelining him for just over a month.
Over his final eleven regular season games, Edman hit just .209, but with the postseason just around the corner and defensive depth still a pressing issue, Edman had no choice but to remain in the lineup as the everyday second baseman. During Games 6 and 7 of the World Series, Edman started in center field, his only time playing in the outfield in the postseason aside from appearing in the 14th inning of Game 3 of the Fall Classic.
Overall, Edman hit .222 with a pair of home runs and eight RBIs during the postseason and was once again a crucial part of the Dodgers’ championship victory.
He’s expected to be ready around the start of spring training, but LA declined to commit to a definitive timeline.
