Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star catcher Will Smith was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first half of the third inning.

The Dodgers announced that Smith left the game with a right hand contusion.
Smith sustained the injury when he was hit by a fault ball in the bottom of the second inning. The dirty tip immediately hit him on the right hand, which rested on the side of his leg. Here is a video of the game:
The Dodgers offer a further update after the game when manager Dave Roberts speaks with reporters. Smith is likely to continue testing before the team reveals its next steps.
Smith is in the middle of another dominant season for LA and hits .296 with 17 home runs, 61 runs smashed and an OPS of .902. If he is forced to miss the time, Rookie Dalton Rushing would take over the tasks full -time.

Hopefully for LA, however, this is nothing more than an injury shock and Smith can rather come to the team later instead of later. The Dodgers entered the game of Wednesday with a three -matches on the San Diego Padres in the National League West.
