Dodgers Organist provides soundtrack for Olympic events

Baseball isn’t quite back yet, but a Dodger Stadium mainstay is already in midseason form.

Dieter Ruehle, the organist for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kings, was in Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Overseas, he has shown he has the stamina to get through any doubleheader or overtime game, sometimes playing as many as three games a day.

“That’s a lot of hockey,” he says noticed on social media next to a laughing emoji.

An old staple of Dodger Stadium

If noted by Anthony Gharib for ESPNRuehle has been the Dodgers’ organist since 2016, though his Olympic experience is even more extensive, with six Games under his belt before this year’s trip to Italy.

In that profile, Dodgers players noted that while they may not recognize his face, they are familiar with Ruehle’s work.

“If you lined him up, I would have no idea what he looks like,” said star Mookie Betts. “I certainly know his keys.”

While in Italy, Ruehle brought some West Coast vibes with him.

If detailed by the Today showRuehle released the melody of “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang”, which rapper Snoop Dogg immediately recognized.

“Hey, he’s playing ‘G Thang!’ Now get going,” Snoop exclaimed while commentating on a hockey game.

Of course, Snoop danced a little too, although he had to be corrected on the pronunciation of Ruehle’s name, which he said as “Dee-tee-uh.”

Aside from the ruling dispute, the Today show hosts were enthusiastic about Ruehle’s work and work ethic, as Carson Daly noted that he was performing twenty games a week.

“He has a wide range of musical selections, so shout out to Dieter, one of those behind-the-scenes heroes,” Daly said.

He’s worked hard, but with those countless games comes some cool moments.

For example, Ruehle said he was allowed to work in the women’s hockey gold medal game, which was won by the US in overtime.

“A gold medal for the U.S. women’s team,” he said. “What a great hockey evening here in Milan!”
