An 11th-round pick of the 2023 MLB Draft, Hope opted to head straight to the professional ranks despite pledging to play college ball at the University of North Carolina.
The Dodgers were defeated by the Chicago Cubs for Hope in the 11th round, who picked him 14 selections ahead of Los Angeles. He signed with the team for a bonus offer of $400,000, which was more money than the 5th-rounders would receive.
However, Los Angeles managed to get their man when they traded Michael Busch and Yency Almonte for Jackson Ferris and Hope.
Since then, he has emerged as a key prospect, showcasing his tools and getting the organization excited about his future.
Hope bats left-handed and also throws left-handed, standing at 6-foot-1 with a 193-pound frame.
At the age of 21, Hope has already reached the Double-A level.

Scouting report Zyhir Hope
MLB Pipeline expects Hope to be ready for the majors in 2027, while FanGraphs believes he will need more time in the minor leagues, with an estimated arrival time of 2028.
Hope will have to settle into Double-A and then Triple-A, which could take another two years if he struggles in 2026. If Hope gets hot, he could reach Triple-A soon and work his way up quickly.
Hope faces competition from De Paula, who is also hot for a promotion.
Here’s what Dodger Nation’s Doug McKain has to say about Hope’s future prospects.
“Extraordinary bat speed. Extremely strong and athletic with thunderous raw power for a 6-foot outfielder. Hope has undeniable ability with the bat, but swing decisions must improve before he can take the next step in his development,” McKain said.
“The increase in his strikeout and whiff rates is concerning, but the potential as a highlight-reel outfielder with a dangerous bat is still there.”
