Tatsuya Imai, who had a 1.92 ERA in the NPB last season, openly stated that he wanted to beat the Dodgers and not join them.
“I want to beat them,” Imai said. “To beat a team like that and become world champion would be the most valuable thing in my life.”
Instead of looking for pitching in free agency, the Dodgers could turn their focus to the outfield. Cody Bellinger is a top candidate for the job and Scott Boras, his agent, has not ruled out the possibility of a return for the former MVP.
“I think Cody had a great, great experience here. Rookie of the Year. MVP. And he was in Hollywood when he was here, so I think players who have had those kinds of experiences over the years are always very welcoming to something like that,” Boras said.
Finally, Dave Roberts reached a huge milestone this weekend: he skipped the Dodgers for 10 years. Roberts has been instrumental in the Dodgers’ success in recent years, winning three World Series in the past six seasons.
