As the front office examines the ball club and tries to make any necessary changes, one area that is undoubtedly a facet of the team that needs improvement is the field’s depth and production.
Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernández both had down years (with Conforto hitting .199 at the end of the season), and defensively they were both near the bottom of the MLB. For these reasons and more, ESPN’s David Schoenfield recently labeled the Dodgers as a “best fit” for Chicago Cubs All-Star Kyle Tucker.

Tucker is a four-time All-Star and will be 29 at the start of spring training. He spent the first seven years of his MLB career with the Houston Astros, and while he had a slightly down season with the Cubs in 2025, he did enough for another All-Star nomination and his second Silver Slugger award.
The right fielder hit .266/.377/.464 with an OPS of .841, good for 22 home runs and 73 RBIs. He had a phenomenal first half of 2025, hitting .280 with an .882 OPS, but after breaking his hand in June — and trying to play through it — his production dipped.
Either way, Tucker is expected to make as much as $400 million this season – and that’s an area where the Dodgers have shown they always have a significant edge.
The Dodgers have never shied away from spending big, and for a player who can create a significant impact in an area that’s going to be in big trouble for years to come, it seems like all signs point to Tucker. Only time will tell if the Dodgers offer him the massive contract planned for him, or if the defending champs look to fill that void in a more economical way.
