Since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023 for his second stint with the franchise, Miguel Rojas has been an invaluable role player for the ball club.

The Venezuelan infielder was a kind of coach on the field. He is one of the most respected players on the roster, given his willingness to do whatever the team asks of him.

Defensively he performed above average. While not known for his bat, Rojas has been more than adequate, hitting .260 over the course of three seasons. The 36-year-old has had a few hits in both the regular season and the postseason. Rojas has also made no secret of his desire to become a manager one day.

Based on how current skipper Dave Roberts rates his acumen and character, there’s a good chance the man they call ‘Miggy Ro’ will get the opportunity to lead his own ball club.

Rojas recently had an exclusive interview with Doug McKain from Dodgers nation. The veteran discussed several interesting topics during the course of the conversation. One of those was his willingness and desire to re-sign with the Dodgers once the season is over.

“I’m excited to give it another shot to win another World Series and hopefully play for the Dodgers another year,” Rojas told Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation. “This will be my first priority to sign with the Dodgers for another year. That’s what I want to do. And then we’ll reevaluate where my career goes.”

Given how much the franchise values team chemistry, it would make sense to bring Rojas back in some capacity. The “sole capacity” relates to the reality that an aging team wants to get younger – and it will get to a point where Alex Freeman will need a longer runway to determine whether he has a real future with the team or not. There is also the reality that Hyeseong Kim, a player with much higher upside, could be blocked by Rojas returning.

These are all considerations that must be taken into account as the team strives to change accordingly.
