The Chicago White Sox have expressed interest in former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Michael Conforto this offseason Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Conforto, 32, spent the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers after signing a one-year, $17 million contract last December. His season didn’t exactly go to plan and was the worst season of his MLB career across the board.

What happened to Michael Conforto in 2025?

The 2017 All-Star started the season well enough with the Dodgers, but things took a nosedive for the veteran in April. He hit .123 all month, drove in just two runs on two solo home runs and didn’t make any meaningful contributions to the office.

Things wouldn’t improve either, as he finished the season with a batting average below the Mendoza line and a .638 OPS – the first time he finished below .700 in that regard during his 10-year MLB career.

Conforto also had a terrible season on defense, with his defense continuing a downward trend that started in 2020. He finished the year with a fielding rating of minus-8 and outs above average, ranking him in the eighth and fifth percentiles of MLB, respectively.

Why do the White Sox want Michael Conforto?

While Conforto had the worst season of his MLB career in 2025, there are, oddly enough, upsides to the veteran heading into 2026.

The 32-year-old maintained the 77th percentile bat rate he has displayed throughout his career, and his expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) – a statistic that measures the quality of batted balls – of .330, above average last season.

Chicago ranked 24th in the MLB last season in terms of wRC+ among their outfielders, so bringing in Conforto, who is looking to rebuild his market, on a one-year deal to prove himself heading into next offseason could very well be the opportunity he needs to get his career back on track.

What have the Dodgers done without Michael Conforto?

It wasn’t likely the Dodgers would sign Conforto this offseason, but they have done more than enough to replace him this offseason.

LA signed All-Star free agent Kyle Tucker to a four-year deal on Thursday, rounding out their outfield and giving them one of the strongest — if not the strongest — lineups in the MLB.

Only time will tell if the Dodgers’ actions will pay off, but they have certainly taken the right steps toward another World Series championship in 2026.
