It is safe to say that the signing of Kirby Yates has been disastrous for the Los Angeles Dodgers so far in the 2025 season.
The veteran right -handed reliever came from a brilliant season with the Texas Rangers in which he wore a microscopic 1.17 ERA. The Multi-Time All-Star has a wealth of experiences that close and in places with high leverage. When the Dodgers granted him for a one -year -old deal with a value of $ 13 million, it was seen as a step to further strengthen, which was considered a very good bull pen.

Manager Dave Roberts was specifically asked about Yates after recently on the IL. He said Yates does “everything he can to post, but it just clearly took a toll.”
Roberts continued to say that the team “will make him retroactively (on the IL until September 21) and tries to get him back for something on the road.”
The bull pen is and remains a big problem. This is particularly the case with right -handed options. Things have become so terrible that Roki Sasaki has now been brought to the main class selection as a reliever instead of in his usual starting role.
It remains unclear whether Yates can regain the form that he has demonstrated last season. Based on what the team has seen so far, apart from a complete miracle, he does not look like someone on which the team can count credibly to get outs in printing situations.
