Dodero joins Steelheads again | Pro hockey news

Boise, Idaho-de Idaho Steelheads, Echl branch of the Dallas Stars, announced that the club veteran defender Charlie Dodero signed for a contract for the 2025-26 season.

Dodero starts his 13th professional season, his sixth with Idaho, after playing abroad after the last six seasons. The 32-year-old for the last suitable for the Steelheads during the 2018-19 campaign, where he achieved 16 points (6G-10AAA) in 29 games in the regular season while he recorded two assists in eight Kelly Cup-Playoff matches. In parts of five seasons with Idaho (2013-15, 2014-15, 2016-19) he achieved 81 points (21g-60A) in 212 career matches with 362 penalty minutes during skating in 35 Kelly Cup Playoff matches that register 12 points (1G-11a). Dodero has played parts of six seasons in the Echl and also skating for Greenville that collects 90 points (23G-67A) in 256 ECHL games.

The Bloomingdale, native by Illinois, spent last season with Guildford in the Elite Ice Hockey League and finished second in the club with 63 penalty minutes while producing 27 points (7G-20A) in 36 games. Other remarkable achievements in his last six seasons abroad include a Slovenian championship during the 2023-24 season with HK Olimpija Ljubljana, a competition championship in France with Rouen in Ligue Magnus, and all skaters lead during the 2019-20 campaign with Graz EC in Austria.

He made his American Hockey League debut with the Syracuse Crunch during the 2014-15 season and appeared in 36 games with five points (1G-4A) with 72 penalty minutes and would then play 10 games with Syracuse the following season. During his first 12 professional seasons, he played 532 career games with 210 points (55g-155a) with 989 penalty minutes.

Prior to professional hockey, he played parts of four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League of 2009-13 with the Kitchener Rangers and Sudbury Wolves who played in 248 career games with 69 points (11G-58A) with 286 penalty minutes. He served as an alternative captain for Sudbury of 2011-13. Dodero fit a season in the United States Hockey League at the Tri-City Storm during the 2008-09 season.
