The eyes are the window for the soul, but they can also be the key to spotting deadly diseases, doctors warn.
Dark speckles on the iris can just be a sign of too many summer sunshine. But in rare cases they can be the first indication to spot deadly eye cancers.
Moreover, subtle yellow around the whites of the eyes can indicate that the liver cannot filter toxins well, which can lead to permanent scars.
And although red spots are often a sign to get a little more sleep and to cover the screen time, they can also suggest that high blood pressure or cholesterol has damaged your blood vessels.
Doctors said the Daily Mail that many of the deadliest diseases of America can be spotted with a simple eye examination, even before other symptoms appear.
Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart conditions can attack blood vessels in the eyes and lead to redness or clear spots.
Dark or clear spots on the eye or thickness or swelling around the eyelid, meanwhile, may indicate eye cancer before characteristic changes in face occur.
And although most Americans can go without an exam for a year or two, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes have to visit the ophthalmologist at least once a year to check for crucial signs of the deterioration of the condition.

Dr. Raj Dasgupta, Chief Medical Officer for Sleepopolis, The Daily Mail said: “Many diseases that influence the whole body can leave instructions in the eyes because the eyes have small blood vessels, nerves and tissues that are really sensitive to changes.”
Dr. Jacqueline Bowen, President-Elect of the American Optometric Association, estimates that ophthalmologists can detect 270 health problems that are not directly related to the eyes.
She told the Daily Mail Diabetes is one of the most common diseases found through a routine eye examination.
In 2019, for example, ophthalmologists discovered 431,000 cases of diabetes in patients who did not know they had the disease.

Suffering by 40 million Americans leads diabetes to consistently high blood sugar that can damage blood vessels in the eyes.
Likewise, high blood pressure can keep the blood vessels in the eye and weaken and ensure that they leak or tear, Dr. Dasgupta.
This is called diabetic retinopathy, the main cause of blindness in adults, according to the CDC.
Although it may not be detectable by just looking in the mirror, in some cases it can cause blood vessels to leak in the eyes of the eyes, making them red and spotty.
And although the melanoma of the skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the US, who affects 100,000 Americans and kill 8,000, it can only influence the eye in rare cases.
Ocular melanoma develops in the middle layer of the eye, the Uvea. This area contains melanocytes that produce melanin, a pigment that gives the skin its color. Higher concentrations of melanin are associated with dark skin.
Dr. Dasgupta said that ocular melanoma can appear as ‘a dark place or growth in the eye’ during a routine eye examination and often has no other symptoms.
If symptoms occur, they include flashes of light, a change in the size of the pupil, the blurry view or loss of peripheral vision.
Retinoblastoma, a rare cancer that grows in the back of the eye because of a genetic mutation, often appears as a clear white place in photos and on scans.
A Canadian mother with the name Steph, for example, caught the glow in her toddler in 2021 after a photo of her.

Lily Morss’s parents noticed that their young daughter would squeeze or tilt her head to see better out of her right eye. She was later diagnosed with retinoblastoma

The cancer affects 200 to 300 Americans a year, most of whom are younger than two years old. It has a survival percentage of 96% and the removal of the affected eye ensures that it spreads.
Breast and lung cancer has also been shown to spread to the eye, which causes dark spots on the eye and leads to loss of vision.
Moreover, rheumatoid arthritis is a car -immune inflammation that attacks the joints, but that inflammation can also travel to the eyes.
Ocular inflammation ensures that the eye and its surrounding tissues are red, swollen and irritated as during an allergic reaction.
Over time, rheumatoid arthritis can also increase the pressure in the eye, which can increase the risk of glaucoma, a kind of loss of eyesight that makes the eyes look cloudy or blurred.
General signs of face problems include ‘unusual problems adapting to dark rooms, difficulty focusing on almost or distant objects, Loensen or blink due to unusual sensitivity to light or sparkle, recurring pain in or around eyes, double view and surplus cracks or watery eyes, “Dr. Bowen.
Dr. Dasgupta said that although most healthy Americans can come with an eye test every two to three years, those who run the risk of disorders such as diabetes and high blood pressure ‘100%’ should take an exam every year.
‘The eyes can give us early warning signals of these conditions before you notice something wrong with your vision. And early catching those changes can help protect your eyesight and overall health, “he said.
