Tesco urgently evokes several of his cooled pasta salads from fears that they may be infected with Salmonella, a potentially deadly food poisoning bug.

The supermarket has given a warning to customers who encouraged them not to eat the affected products and to return it to a store for a full refund instead. No receipt is required.

The products involved include Tesco Basil Pesto & Semi Drooged Tomato Pasta (225g), Tesco Chicken & Chorizo Pasta (285G) and Tesco Feta Semi -Dried Tomato Pasta (290g).

The affected items use 24 and 25 July and may already be consumed by unsuspecting shoppers before the warning was published last night.

Salmonella is a kind of bacteria that, if consumed, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and fever can cause within a few hours of eating contaminated food.

Most people recover without medical treatment, but Salmonella infection can in some cases be serious or even fatal, especially in young children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system.

Food Safety Officials of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: ‘If you have purchased one of the above products, they will not eat.

“Instead, return them to a Tesco store for a full refund.”

The FSA advises consumers who experience Salmonella symptoms to stay away from work, school or kindergarten until they have been symptom -free for at least 48 hours to pass on the infection to others.

The products are part of Tesco’s own cooled pasta range and are sold nationally.

Salmonella is one of the most common causes of food poisoning in the UK. The bacteria are found in the intestine of people and animals, and infection usually occurs when people consume food or drink that is infected with faecal matter.

The most involved food includes poultry, raw eggs, unpasteurized milk and ready-made products such as pre-packaged salads and deli meat.

In June, the UK Health Security Agency cases for Salmonella poisoning warned a highest height of ten years, with an increase of 17 percent compared to 2023, increasing from 8,872 cases in 2023 to 10,388 cases in 2024.

The actual number is thought that it is much higher, because many people recover at home without looking for medical help.

Outbreaks coupled with supermarket food products are rare but not unheard of.

In June 2022, hundreds of chicken products were sold by Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and other British supermarkets pulled out of the shelves because of Salmonella tray.

These include sandwiches, chicken salads and easy meals.

In the same year, the Belgian chocolate maker Kinder brought an urgent recall of his products – including the massively popular friendly surprise – to Salmonella fears.

Salmonella bacteria can survive on surfaces and quickly multiply if food is stored incorrectly or treated without the correct hygiene.

Although heat kills the bacteria, the risk with ready-made cooled food that they are often consumed is without cooking further.

In the UK, an estimated 33 people die every year due to food -transferred salmonella, according to a study published in BMJ Open Gastroenterology.

The FSA indicates that food group notifications notes when a product is a risk to public health.
