Prime Minister Queensland Harness Racing Trainer Grant Dixon has three chances to land his first Eureka victory.
For a long time, Dixon only complained second with his champion Pacer jumped to fame in the inaugural run of the world’s richest race, the $ 2.1 million tab Eureka in 2023.
Spring to Fame did all the work outside the leader and fought strong, catch a wave and let him be beaten in the home, but could not distract a late eruption from the former superstar mare-cipher.
“Catching a wave was the most important danger that night and I had to put pressure on him, but when it was hit so far from home, it left me a sitting shot,” Dixon said.
“Even Coipher raced again after that race and was retired, it was just not meant to be that night.
“Spring to Roem has continued and has since so many big races, so I won further, but this time I would still like to win it (Tab Eureka).”
Dixon returned last year, but simply did not have the firepower with a free thinker who ended up for the second time as a $ 151 outsider.
It is a different story in Menangle on Saturday evening.
Dixon and his wife, Trista, have three out of 10 starters, led by three-time group 1 winner Fate Wait.
Dixon will take the reins on fate, wait for a chance of $ 11 from Gate Three, while colleague Queenslander Adam Sanderson will call for order ($ 34) and prominent NSW -Robbie Morris will work together for greatness ($ 19).
Although gambling says that fate is waiting, the best chance of Team Dixon is clear, Grant is not that certain.
“The two three -year -olds are our best chances. I said it earlier and still think that there is not much waiting between fate and away for greatness when most people seem to think,” he said.
“They are both nice horses and the draws help, but it will not be easy against the best of the four -year -olds. I was really impressed by Miki’s victory until success the last time. He looks like the one to beat.”
The addition of Dixon’s search to win is the fact that his friends and stable main pillars, Kevin and Kay Seymour, all three of his runners of Tab Eureka have.
The Seymours have used their own lock on the road to quantity.
“I would like to win it for them, they have been great for Trista and I,” said Dixon. “They are second in both Eurekas so far and hopefully we can go there better for them.”
The Queensland taste at Eureka Night runs even deeper with two important opportunities in the $ 150,000 group 1 Len Smith; Chantal Turpin’s The Janitor and Shannon Price’s Sure Thing Captain.
