The Phoenix Suns finally broke up with Kevin Durant this season, and much of the conversation around the players they returned is aimed at the pressure that Jalen Green will be under the gate. Then there is Rookie Center Khaman Maluach, who hopes that after 18 years old it can be their big husband of the future.

The South Sudanese former Duke -looked out look raw At Summer League – and although that was to be expected – it emphasizes how long a path lies for him before he can be considered a regular contribution. That is why the Suns also waved Williams, even if they were better served after this European -bound NBA finalist.

Dillon Brooks unlocks a new defense element for Suns.

Then there is Dillon Brooks – the player you like to hate if he is not in your team – who somehow flies under the radar despite the center of attention in certain matchups in the past. If you take a look at the social media pages of the Houston Rockets and even Sorreddit, then you know that fans in Texas were actually very sad to see him go.

Although many expect that Green has high score evenings and hope that Maluach can look comfortable against certain back -up bigs, they are Brooks that changes the complexion of the entire grid. The Suns has not had a defensive dog since Mikal Bridges was in the city – and although he is more skilled than Brooks afterwards – you can make the argument that he is certainly not so tenacious or physical.

Brooks will give up some size against certain opponents, but he has the thicker frame to pop with them. The best part of his addition – and it is a Suns fans who quickly fall in love – is how he will take the role of Captain that end of the court. Boys such as Ryan Dunn, Oso ighodaro and even Maluach like to play next to him.

Last season the Suns received a terrible 117.7 points per match, with only three teams that allowed more. But when Brooks was sitting on the field in Houston, they admitted 111.4. It is not so easy that Brooks can transfer that number to Phoenix – he played with better defending players with the rockets – but he will certainly get the Suns trending in the right direction.

That number he placed would comfortably place the Suns in the top 10 in the competition, while Brooks had a net rating of plus 3.4 thanks to the 14 points he knew every night. That is completely around his career average – although lower than much of his Memphis Grizzlies days – who shows how much he is willing to sacrifice the well -being of the team.

This was a problem when Bradley Beal, for example, stood on the Roster and he never looked comfortable as a third option offensive. Brooks will not agree, but he is demonstrably qualified to do this, and he shot a shadow of less than 40 percent from 3-point reach on 6.3 attempts last season, both career heights.

That kind of output makes him a legitimate “3-and-D” threat, which also means that Dunn does not have to try to force himself in that role. The addition of Brooks will then bring a new dimension to the defensive schemes in Phoenix that are painfully stagnated in recent years, while attacking his output will be underestimated. Do not trade not surprised by the future impact of Brooks in the Valley.
