The Dallas wings have agreed to the Trade Guard Dijonai Carrington for Minnesota Lynx Vooruit Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and a second round pick of 2027. Moreover, the wings were abandoned by Teahara McCowan.
Carrington, which was taken over from the Connecticut Sun in the low season, is on average 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per match. Last year she was proclaimed WnbaThe most improved player and was a member of the All-Defense team.

She joins a Lynx team that has been at the top of the rankings throughout the season. Minnesota is 24-5, six games prior to the New York Liberty for the best record of the competition. In Carrington, Minnesota, the team acquires an elite, energetic defender who can also score double digits on a certain night.
They give up two players – Miller and Samuelson – who have not played a substantial role in Minnesota. Miller, who was set up in second place in 2023, is on average 4.1 points in just 9.7 minutes per match, while Samuelson is out for the season with a foot injury.
How Dijonai Carrington fits in Minnesota
Minnesota is an ideal destination for Carrington. She will compete for a championship – just like last year on the sun – but she doesn’t have to wear as much scoring load as she had to go into Dallas.
The 5’11 guard will probably come from the bank; The current starting line-up of Minnesota comprises three All-Stars-Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride and Napheeesa Collier-Naast Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton. Whether she starts instead of Carleton, who has an average of 6.9 points and 2.3 assists in a somewhat downward shooting year (she touches 35.9% of three this season, a decrease of 44.4% last season).

Another element to consider is that Napheeesa Collier seemed to be spraying her ankle in Saturday’s eruption on the Las Vegas Aces and could miss a lot of time; Carrington is another strong rotation player that could in the absence of Collier in the starting line -up.
In both cases, she plays for a team that has long been priority to the defense – and winning.
What the Dallas wings get in exchange for Carrington
Although Diamond Miller has not played important minutes this season, she is not slow. After second place, the 6’3 forward Garnered Wnba All-smokie team distinguishes in Scoring (12.1 ppg), fifth in Rebound (3.5 rpg) and second in assists (2.5 APG) in 2023. This season she all leads ahead in three-point shootings, 53.8% of the arch.
Dallas will benefit from her shooting and Miller could get a much greater chance in a new destination. Currently, the wings make the three-way three-pointers per match (6.8) and shoot the fourth-strict percentage (32.2%).
Samuelson is another solid rotation player, but will not be tackled this season after undergoing seasonal foot surgery.
Dallas is clearly not in Win-Now mode, but is in the mix to add a new top choice alongside Paige Bueckers this season.
