Former Toronto Maple Leafs -star Mitch Marner has recently been opened about the intense control he had confronted after the play -offs, claim that he needs it “Full -time security … for two weeks” to protect himself and his family against fans. Marner made the comments during an interview with TSN’s Mark Masters and described the post-playoff reciprocation as frightening.

Toronto Sun -Columnist Steve Simmons, however urges fans Not to take Marner’s story at first sight. In a recent column, Simmons suggested that the story of ‘safety problems’ can be more about shaping public perception than reflecting genuine danger. He noted that Marner rarely spoke publicly during his time at the Leafs, and that his agent, Darren Ferris, rarely gives interviews unless there is a strategic agenda.

According to Simmons, the Maple Leafs carried out their own evaluation of the situation and found “nothing to worry about.” He described the fast media performances of both Marner and Ferris and ‘Classic Spin-Doctora’, aimed at generating sympathy for Marner when approaching a free agency.

“The timing is meaningful,” Simmons wrote, suggesting that the story can be an attempt to justify a potential deviation from Toronto while he encourages Marner as a controversial player who was challenged by hostile fans.

Simmons also emphasized that Marner’s story is contrary to earlier statements in which he praised Leafs fans and did not intend to leave. “The fact that Marner and Ferris essentially tell the same story at the same time is an indication of planning … more than whatever,” he added.

Many Leafs fans don’t buy Marner’s story. Whether most of them take the time to investigate the facts or just needed a voice with a platform to place the marner exaggeration in the universe, the comments are not going well at Toronto. Leafs -Fans wanted another reason to feel bitter about Marner’s exit. Simmons gave it to them.

What really happened to Marner?

So what should fans believe? Someone has posted Marner’s address. So much that we know, and it is not acceptable behavior. Regarding the kind of impact it had and whether the Marner family felt unsafe, that is not really in control of us to decide. No fan, team or other person has the right to tell Marner and his family how to feel, nor can they decide if he felt that someone was in danger.

Only because the organization has not found any credible threats, does not mean that Marner felt comfortable with what happened. Nobody has the right to suggest that Marner felt no stress or worries.

Should fans believe at the same time that his exit was due to this incident and concern for his family? Probably not. There is much more evidence that Marner had a foot out of the door before he was worried about threats that never became reality.
