Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 2: Snake Bites

2 minutes, 42 seconds Read

The Arizona Diamondbacks grabbed further where they stayed away against the Colorado Rockies last weekend and attacked the starting pitching early to build a lead while the pitching held the Rockies in the 8-1 victory.

Bad night for Bradley, goodnight for Eduardo

After giving up five points on seven hits of more than 4 2/3 innings, his last time -out against the Diamondbacks, Bradley Blalock did a little worse this time. He fought against the command and control over his fields while allowing seven points on six hits over 3 2/3 innings. He issued four walks in the night and threw 79 litters. Although Blalock threw 44 strikes, they were often left over the center of the plate and the diamondbacks did not miss them.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. A three-run home run in the first inning and Jose Herrera hit a two-run home run in the second inning, while Ketel Marte hit a two-run double in the fourth. Three of the four walks changed into runs, emphasize again

Eduardo Rodriguez, on the other hand, excelled in his start for the Diamondbacks. The Rockies yielded six hits against him, but only succeeded in one point while threw six times and took a walk.

The only run that the Rockies succeeded against Rodriguez came in the fifth inning when Kyle Farmer shot a solo -home run to the left field, his sixth of the season. Farmer hit 3-out-4 at night while he played the first base instead of Rookie warming up from Bernabel. He has now reduced his average to .227 of the year.

The only other run that the Rockies managed was a solo -home run by Brenton Doyle in the ninth against former Rockie -Reliever Jalen Beeks. Doyle also had a two-hit night and had brought its average to .234 of the season.

Equal hits, unequal damage

Despite the match of the same number of hits as the Diamondbacks, the Rockies only had two solo-home runs compared to the Multi-Run Homers. They hit 0-out-1 with runners in scorphence while the D-backs went 3-out-11. Double playing balls, strikeouts and a general lack of big hits prevented the Rockies from stringing things together to cause damage. The Rockies threw out only eight times, but only had one walk, with seven of their nine hits from Tyler Freeman, Doyle and Farmer.

After Blalock had to leave the game early, it seemed that the Rockies would have a rough game. Fortunately enough, the bullpen succeeded in preventing things from unraveling. Anthony Molina came in relief and went 2 1/3 innings, making one point on two hits with three strikeouts. However, he left the game in a place of problems in the seventh with runners on the second and third without outs.

That is where Dugan Darnell came to the rescue. Darnell managed to get three straight outs to make the runners strand and threw a clean eighth, and gave only one hit while he hit one. Nick Anderson finished things with a clean ninth.

The Rockies will look to get something in the round two on Friday. Tanner Gordon (2-5, 8.37 ERA) takes the ball for Colorado to compete against Brandon Pfaadt (12-7, 5.03 ERA) for Arizona.

The first pitch is at 6:40 PM MDT.
