🎡 A World Exhibition for Ethereum with La Rural as Schellingpoint

For the first time, Devconnect introduced a World’s Fair-style experience fully anchored in La Rural, one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic locations, bringing everything together into a single, immersive environment.

Within La Rural, those present could discover:

  • 8 themed districts: DeFi, Privacy, L2s, Decentralized Social, Hardware and Wallets, AI, Gaming and Art
  • 80+ exhibiting teams showcasing real, working Ethereum applications
  • 15 Community Hubs organized by ecosystem groups
  • 40 events organized by independent teams
  • Discussion corners, coworking zones and bookable meeting rooms
  • Boarding stations for newcomers
  • Food trucks that accept crypto payments
  • Live music, a cinema and a football field with tournaments

It turned Ethereum into something you could walk through. People tested applications, played onchain games, tried new wallets, paid for food and drinks with crypto, explored AI workflows, and today met the teams building Ethereum.

📲 The Devconnect app: the guide to the World Exhibition

The entire experience was supported by the Devconnect app, which helped participants navigate the massive venue, view the programming, set up personal schedules, pay with crypto via the integrated wallet or add their own wallets, complete quests, discover new applications, and collect POAPs along the way. We have collaborated with multiple web3 projects integrated into the app: NastySimpleFi, POAP, WalletConnect, Base, Zapper, Zupass, AT Protocol, Peanut and ENS.

App statistics

  • 9,000+ logged in users
  • 16,000 POAPs beaten
  • 14,000 World’s Fair missions completed
  • Crypto payment activity via SimpleFi

Many visitors fell in love with Buenos Aires, with the spring mood And lively streetsthe mate culture, roasted And steak, ice creamthe football energy, street artand the surrounding nature. Some even stayed well beyond Devconnect.

Buenos Aires was the perfect location for the first Ethereum World Expo, with Argentina being one of the most active crypto markets in the world, with around 20% owning crypto and using it for savings, inflation protection, access to loans and stability. Many vendors across the city are accepting crypto for payments, and this exposure made Devconnect feel like it was in the right place at the right time. Devconnect itself was also shaped by the contributions of the local and regional Ethereum communities:

☀️ ETHCon Buenos Aires

Devconnect included one of the largest student and academic components in the history of EF events.
