Frankie Dettori once again treated a huge crowd to a flying dismount after the legendary rider declared another winner during his farewell tour in South America.

After riding Grand Candyman to victory on the first leg of his tour at San Isidro in Buenos Aires last month, Dettori followed up another winner in Uruguay on January 7, thanks to an impressive front-run performance from the Roberto Solanes-trained Soy Poronguero.

The four-year-old, who was sent off at 13-8, accelerated down the home straight and finished well ahead of second favorite Tengo Una Sonrisa.

Earlier on the card, Dettori partnered Most Sound to finish eighth of 13 in the 6-furlong maiden, while his other mount Militante filled the same position in race 6 of the 20-race card at the Maronas National Racecourse in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo.

Dettori’s last ride on the card came in the Gran Premio Pedro Pineyrua (G3) at Sparco, but he finished penultimate. The race was the second in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series for the Oct. 30-31 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
