A reception center for those whose family members at the Air India flight AI171 were founded at Gatwick Airport, as the city police commissioner of Ahmedabad says there are ‘no survivors’
Gatwick Airport in London sets up a reception center, specifically for those whose lovers were on board the doomed Air India flight AI171.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane, which was on its way to Gatwick, transported 242 passengers and crew members when it crashed for a few minutes after it had left Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Before the signal lost, the plane sent a “Mayday” message to those on the ground, indicating that an emergency took place.
De Spiegel understands that the plane has been deposited directly in a student -a -home at the BJ Medical College, in a residential area in Ahmedabad, West -India, just like medical students were eating their lunch. It is assumed that students have suffered several injuries and are now being treated in nearby Civil Hospital Ahmedabad.
What exactly happened to those on board the Dreamliner, 11 of whom are reportedly have been children, has not yet been confirmed, but the police say that no survivors are expected. For now, family members remain their painful waiting for news in countries around the world, including the UK.
Gatwick has posted the following statement on social media: “We can confirm flight AI171 that was involved in an accident on departure from Ahmedabad Airport Today (June 12) was due to London Gatwick at 6:25 PM BST. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft had 242 passengers and crew members on board.
“London Gatwick keeps close contact with Air India, and a reception center for family members of those on board is set up where information and support will be offered. British nationals who need consular help or are concerned about friends or family must call 020 7008 5000.

Air India said 169 of those on board were Indian nationals and were 53 British nationals. There was also a Canadian national and seven Portuguese subjects.
In the meantime, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), in the light of today’s catastrophe, has just updated its guidance for British to India and explains: “We are aware of an airplane crash in Ahmedabad. The UK has to work with local authorities in India to urgently urgently.
