A UFC debutant missed his chance to be presented on a recent Parisian card due to poor weight reduction, but he may stay on the Roster.
Many fans and experts looked forward to a planned featherweight collision between Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and the debuting Losene Keita. On the day, Keita missed the weight with three pounds. “Pitbull” refused to continue with the matchup after the absence of his planned opponent to make the contracted weight.
UFC Senior Vice President of International Operations, David Shaw, answered questions from media members after UFC Paris. When asked for the future of Keita after the weighing roads, Shaw did not seem to believe that the former two-division Oktagon champion will be cut (via Inappropriate).
‘I believe he does that [get another opportunity on UFC roster]. To be honest, I don’t know the details. I think some of us were surprised that the fight did not happen, but at least it will be good to have him in the selection, “Shaw Media said after UFC Paris.” (He’s not cut) – not that I know. “
Keita apologized on social media after the cancellation of the competition.
“For the first time in 25 fights, I did not succeed in making weight, and it had to happen on my UFC debut,” wrote Keita. “I wanted to continue and would have given everything to arrive, but my body didn’t want it. I sincerely apologize to all my fans. I come back, like every time I fall into life.”
Freire was not too satisfied with the situation and Keita shot during an interview with UFC. Keita criticized Freire because he refused to continue the fight despite his efforts to ‘make things right’. Whether the UFC buyer is trying to rebuild the fight can still be seen, but “Pitbull” calls for a collision with Arnold Allen on UFC Rio.
