81/6 Greenknowe Ave, Elizabeth Bay, with 500 sqm of living space, just hit the market with Jason Boon and Geoff Cox of Richardson & Wrench Elizabeth Bay.
Interior designer Alexandra Kidd has listed the Elizabeth Bay pad which she converted from a single bedroom into an extraordinary two-storey ‘sky garden’ penthouse with a rooftop pool.
Kidd’s husband Ian Day, a property developer and property lawyer, had bought a top-floor single bedroom in the Soho block at 81/6 Greenknowe Ave for $1.48 million in 2005, property records show.
In 2021, the couple purchased the airspace above and added one and a half additional levels.
āOne of the biggest hurdles was the staircase, conceived as the dramatic bridge between the original apartment and the new extension,ā Kidd recently told Belle magazine.
The incredible residence, which now has 500 sqm of living space (380 sqm internal plus 220 sqm terrace), four bedrooms, four bathrooms and double parking, has also appeared in Habitus Living and soon in the coffee table book 50 Interiors from Around the Globe 1V.

Kidd and Day, who are now spending more time at their farm in Bowral, have just listed the penthouse with a $12 million guide in an expressions of interest campaign through Jason Boon and Geoff Cox of Richardson & Wrench Elizabeth Bay.
āIt’s like a sky garden on top of a building, and it has a very New York feel, outdoor spaces, a pool and bright city lights,ā Boon said.
āAnd the point of difference is the aspect, both east and west, plus the design, by a great designer, Alexandra Kidd.ā
A sculptural staircase is āthe dramatic bridge between the original apartment and the new extensionā.
There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Breathtaking views of the harbour.
The views are of course also impressive, both of the city and the harbor.
All four bedrooms open directly onto the terrace and enjoy the harbor breeze and morning sun, with the master having double walk-in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom.
There are two interconnecting bedrooms, while a fourth could serve as a guesthouse or study.
The sculptural staircase leads to the entertainment zone on the top floor.
The Wolf and Sub-Zero fitted kitchen anchors the large living and dining room which opens onto terraces on three sides and the swimming pool.
There is a private elevator to the two car spaces in the garage below.
