Chris Mepham scored the equalizer in the 95th minute as Eric Ramsey earned his first point as West Brom boss in a 1-1 draw against Derby County.
After Patrick Agyemang had given the Rams the lead on the stroke of half-time, the Baggies’ efforts were rewarded in the second half when Mepham completed a well-worked corner to break their scoreless run away from home.
It was a cautious start from both sides, with Derby knowing a win would take them into the play-off places, but it was West Brom who almost took the lead when George Campbell headed wide from a corner.
However, in the 44th minute the hosts scored with their first shot of the match when Agyemang crossed the ball over the line after Max O’Leary had spilled his attempt to collect a cross from a free kick.
West Brom looked particularly dangerous from set pieces, with Samuel Iling-Junior and Josh Maja both going close in injury time as the Baggies threw everything they had in search of an equalizer.
And Ramsay’s side reaped the rewards when a corner was fired to the far post by Jayson Molumby and Mepham headed in for his first goal for the club.

Data debrief: Molumby in the middle
Had West Brom lost, they would have equaled their worst away performance in 135 years (11 consecutive defeats in 1891). However, Mepham’s heroics at the death mean the Baggies can now build on this momentum.
It was also a deserved equalizer, with West Brom producing 0.97 expected goals (xG) from 13 shots, compared to Derby’s 0.29 from five attempts.
While Mepham will receive much of the credit, Molumby was certainly one of the players who helped West Brom to a draw. Together with his assist, Molumby registered the most ball contacts for his team (65), most passes in the final third (17), most possessions won (eight) and the joint most duels (eight of 11 – equal with Ousmane Diakite).
