Copenhagen, Denmark – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark had called for the best American diplomat in the country for conversations after the most important national public broadcaster reported on Wednesday that at least three people with connections with President Trump carried out secret influencing operations in Greenland.
Greenland, a huge semi-autonomous Danish territory in the Arctic, is coveted by Mr. Trump, who has Repeatedly mentioned to be annexed the vast land mass by the United States. Denmark and Greenland insist that the mineral-rich island is not for sale, while Mr. Trump has not been excluded by military force, although Denmark is a NATO ally.
Greenland is located in the northeast of Canada. The Danish territory has its own elected government. The location between the US, Russia and Europe makes it strategic for both economic and defense purposes, mainly because melting sea has opened new shipping routes through the Arctic.

What does the Danish broadcaster claim that Americans do in Greenland?
On Wednesday, the Danish public broadcaster DR reported that government and security sources, which they did not mention, as well as non -created sources in Greenland and the US, are of the opinion that at least three Americans with connections with Mr. Trump carried out secret influencers on the territory.
It said that the story was based on information from a total of eight sources, who believe that the goal is to weaken relations with Denmark within Greenland society.
DR said that it would not have been able to clarify whether the Americans were working on his own initiative or on someone else’s orders.
The network said that the sources believed that one of the Americans of Greenland citizens had compiled for and against Mr. Trump’s overtures, in an attempt to build a list of citizens on the island that could possibly be recruited for a Greenlandic Seksplaats.
The other Americans, according to DR, “have tried to cultivate contacts with politicians, business people and citizens, and the concern of the sources is that these contacts can be used in secret to support the wish of Donald Trump to take over Greenland.”

In response to DR’s report, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said Lars Lokke Rasmussen van Denmark in a statement sent to the French news agency AFP that the ministry “was aware that foreign actors continue to show an interest in Greenland and his position in the Kingdom of Denmark. It is therefore not surprising if we external attempts.”
“Every attempt to interfere with the internal affairs of the Kingdom will of course be unacceptable,” he said, in the affirmative that he “asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to call on the American charge for a meeting at the ministry.”

Mr. Trump has repeatedly claimed that the US needs Greenland for national security purposes.
“I’m talking about protecting the free world,” he said at the beginning of January. “You look at – you don’t even need binoculars – you look outside. You have China ships everywhere. You have Russian ships everywhere. We don’t let that happen. We don’t let it happen.”
In May, the leader of Denmark publicly convicted reports that the US collected intelligence In Greenland.
The Danish Security and Intelligence Service responded to a request to comment by saying that it is of the opinion that “in the current situation is a target for influence campaigns of different species” that can amount to divisions in the relationship between Denmark and Greenland.
It said that it “assesses that this could be done by exploiting existing or manufactured disagreements, for example in connection with known individual cases, or by promoting or strengthening certain views in Greenland with regard to the Kingdom, the United States or other countries with a certain interest in Greenland.”
