Demetrious Johnson has undoubtedly earned his rightful place at the sport of MMAs of all time. With a career record of 25-4-1 in all competitions, including a number of 15-2-1 in the UFC, there should never be a debate whether he should be one of the best.
He had a brilliant run in the sport, including a long stint such as the UFC Flyweight Champion from 2012 to 2018. This is a good time to look back at Johnson’s career as a hunter.
Demetrious Johnson: The early years in MMA
Born on August 13, 1986, Demetrious Johnson turned to the sports world when he was three sports in his home in his home in his home Washington. While he was registered at the Washington High School in Parkland, the man who would become “Mighty Mouse” took competing in wrestling, cross -country skiing and track.

In the wrestling ring, Johnson played in his junior and senior seasons and finished in the top three in the state of Washington. While he received a stock markets to struggle collegially, he did not accept any of them and endorsed as a member of the Pierce College Student Body in Pierce County, wa.
After two years, Johnson left Pierce College and turned to MMA. All nine of his amateur matches in MMA took place in his home Washington, with Demetrious Johnson who came up as a victor every time.

His first professional match ended in a successful fashion in Everett, WA and scored a submission of the first round through the back naked choke versus Frankie Mendez. He then traveled to Anchorage to meet Marshall Carlyle in AFC 67 in January 2010, and won by TKO on the second round.
A knockout victory by main kick A month later Johnson yielded a World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) contract and his promotion debut in April 2010. He went 2-1 under the WEC PromotieAnder before the promotion was merged with the UFC Die Autumn.
Demetrious Johnson joins UFC after merger
At the beginning of 2011, Johnson joined the active schedule of the UFC. It was in the promotion of Dana White where he would achieve his greatest careers success. After 2-1 to start his UFC official period, including a failed bid at the UFC Bantamweight Championship, he would go to the flightweight ranks and enter the UFC Flyweight Tournament.
During the semi -final vs. Ian McCall of March 3, 2012 Johnson was declared the winner by majority decision, at least in the first instance. After further assessment of the scor cards of the jury members later that night, however, the scores were incorrect in tabular form.
According to the tournament rules, every semifinal of three rounds that was scored, would spend a draw to a fourth round, but given that the error was not passed on to Dana White after the show, a rematch was ordered for the June.
Johnson won unanimously in the Rematch and later took the championship through unanimous decision against Joseph Benavidez in Toronto. This started a great run as a title holder at 125 for Demetrious Johnson, making 11 successful defenses of the belt.
Johnson joins one championship after trade

Demetrious Johnson ends on the career on top
After the trilogy fight with Moraes, Demetrious Johnson continued to engage in a series of grab matches in 2024 during the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship. When winning the gold medal in the Masters Division at 154.6 pounds, he contradicted 248 pounds Michael Sante Medina.
Johnson defeated Sante Medina within the last moments of the game. At the end of last summer he appeared on one 168 in Denver to announce that he would withdraw from MMA.
“I’m ready,” he said. “I have finished competing in mixed martial arts and I want to thank you so much for giving the opportunity.” In the immediate aftermath of Johnson’s retirement, Chatri Sityodtong revealed that “powerful mouse” would become the first member of the One Championship Hall of Fame.
