DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine talked about frustrations with Kings Season

After the Sacramento Kings were eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine spoke about the challenges the team is facing this season. Both DeRozan and LaVine spoke about the problems they have as individuals and the frustrations the team as a whole has.

When asked where the Kings are emotionally, DeRozan was blunt.

“In a classy place,” DeRozan said. “Nobody wants to lose like we lost. I think everything is just normal for us right now, honestly. Sometimes when you’re in the deep end, it’s hard to hear anything. You’re just trying to swim your way out somehow.”

DeRozan also expressed some uncertainty about his future in Sacramento.

“I’m pretty sure everything is called into question when you’re in the situation we’re in right now,” DeRozan said. “That’s another thing that’s frustrating. That’s another thing. Only time will tell. We’ll see.”

LaVine said he can’t have the impact he should if he can’t play more aggressively.

“I’m not my best self when I’m taking eight to 10 shots,” LaVine said of his recent play. “I can be as efficient as you want. But if I make eight shots, I’m like, ‘What are we doing?’ So today I just tried to be a little more aggressive, find spots, my teammates (tried) to find me, which was great.

“But obviously it hasn’t resulted in anything like a win. I would love to go 4-for-8 and we’ll win. I’ve scored a lot of points in my career. We’re just trying to get a win now. We’ve got to get on this flight. I’ve got a day tomorrow. I’ve got a game on Saturday. Come Saturday, I’ve got to figure it out.

“Only time will tell. It’s hard to say at the moment. There are a lot of frustrations from many angles. There is still a lot of season to go, there is still a lot ahead of us. We have to fight for something.”

LaVine said part of his frustration stems from not being on the floor late in some recent games.

“I will always be a team guy,” LaVine said. “(But) personally I don’t like it. I’ve never not played in the fourth. But when you try to win, you do what you can, I guess.”
