Deltariffic adds spark to the 2YO feature

Promising WA-bred gelding Deltariffic (Poster boy) will add significant interest to the Retravision Pace over 2130m for two-year-olds at Gloucester Park on Wednesday evening, when he will make his second start in a race after an inglorious harness debut last February, when he galloped poorly in the score and trailed the field in a 1730m event won by Fear The Storm.

.

Deltariffic is now trained by Gary Hall Jnr, and he warmed up with a good effort for his return to racing in a three-horse trial over 2150 meters at Byford last Saturday.

He raced back onto the pins three times before easily winning by three lengths from pacesetter Global Ark, with a score of 2.5.1 on a slow track.

On the surface, Deltariffic faces a tough assignment against several smart, in-form two-year-olds, including Cease To React, Cinch, He Is talking, Nite Sniper and My Machane.

Cease To React, a son of former star pacer Soho Tribeca, is ridden by Emily Suvaljko for trainer Michael Young and will start wide at barrier seven, but he has the ability to overcome that disadvantage.

His two runs since resuming after a spell were excellent. He reappeared four Fridays ago when he left the pacesetter behind in Rare Air to finish half a head second ahead of the brilliant Amalfi Knight, who recorded 1.56.9s. over 2130 meters after last quarter of 28.3 seconds. and 28.9 sec.

The following week, Cease To React started wide at barrier eight and raced into the wind before winning by half a length from the leader Nite Sniper, with a rating of 1.57.1 over 1730 metres.

Cinch will be ridden by Tom Nally for leading trainers Greg and Skye Bond, and the New Zealand-bred filly will have admirers as she starts in her first outing after a spell from barrier three.

Her recent trials have been encouraging. In a field of six in a 2185m trial at Pinjarra last Wednesday, Cinch was held back from the outside barrier before running briskly home to win by two lengths from Southerner after the final quarters of 28.3 seconds. and 28.8 sec.

That followed a win in a 2150m trial at Byford last Saturday when she was denied extra time as she beat Lord Vincentius by a head.

Cinch is a younger full sister to Maid Of Money, who claimed her 14th win from 111 starts when she broke a losing streak of 13 with her victory over 1646 meters at Maitland.
