Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray has been sidelined since Jan. 31, 2025, after tearing his right Achilles tendon, but he is set to return to action.

The one-time All-Star went through full practices on Wednesday and Thursday, writes NOLA.com’s Rod Walker.

“He’s close,” interim head coach James Borrego said after Thursday’s practice. “I’d say he’ll be back on the floor playing NBA games in the next week or so, which is great.”

Murray is nearing a return after a lengthy post-injury rehabilitation process.

He was acquired by New Orleans in an offseason trade with Atlanta in 2024 and had his first season with the Pelicans severely interrupted by injuries.

He broke his left hand in the 2024-25 season opener and missed 17 games before later suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon strain.

The 29-year-old played a total of 31 games, averaging 17.5 points, 7.4 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 32.6 minutes per game while posting a shooting line of .393/.299/.823.

Murray has already been ruled out for Friday’s game against Milwaukee, but Borrego remains optimistic about the impact the former All-Defensive guard will have once he returns.

“I expect a lot from him,” Borrego said, according to Walker. “He’s got a huge injury, but what I’ve seen is encouraging. I’m looking forward to seeing him.”
