On February 5, she was in police custody for a day on the orders of the Kunnamangalam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to complete further interrogation and collect evidence related to her bus journey in Payyannur under the guidance of senior police officers. She filed the bail application in the sessions court after it was rejected by the Kunnamangalam court.
New accusation by family
Meanwhile, Deepak’s family came up with a new allegation that the police had not properly investigated the incident. They alleged that the statements of those who were on the bus when the suspect captured images of Deepak on her mobile camera alleging that they had been sexually assaulted were not collected for verification.
On the other hand, Shimjitha remained steadfast in her complaint that there was misconduct on Deepak’s part. During a brief interaction with the media on February 5, she also reiterated that there was no change in her petition.
Deepak was found dead at his house near Govindapuram in Kozhikode city on January 18. According to police sources, the sexual harassment video was recorded by the accused during a bus journey in Kannur district on January 16.
