Six construction contractors have been issued 11 composite notices by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) during an enforcement operation targeting road digging work in the city carried out over the weekend.

During the Public Road Dredging Operation Series 2/2026, which was carried out in collaboration with the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), checks at work sites along Jalan Travers, Jalan Bangsar, Jalan Segambut, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Hang Tuah and Wangsa Maju revealed a number of violations.

Inspections at seven locations from Friday evening to early Saturday morning revealed a range of violations, including failure to install turn signals, lack of traffic controllers, causing damage to footpaths, closing roads without permission and littering public roads. In addition, unlicensed trucks were also found transporting construction materials.

Enforcement action was taken under the Material Transport By-Laws (WPKL) 1997 (two composite notices) and the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (nine composite notices). Meanwhile, the CIDB has also issued four notices directing contractors to submit information regarding construction work without permission and approval.

The municipality said the operation was aimed at monitoring the works carried out by contractors during repairs or maintenance related to the installation of pipes, paving, repair of sewerage and utilities, to ensure that they comply with the conditions and work approvals issued for the operation sites.
