The 18-year-old Davina Perrin wrote history with a century of 42 balls to lift the northern superchargers in the final of the hundred while they defeated London Spirit, the title defender, with 42 runs in the eliminator. Perrin only became the second woman after Tammy Beaumont in 2023 to reach three digits in the 100-ball tournament with a stunning 101 out of 43 balls, including 15 four and five sixes in the oval.
It was the fastest ton in the women’s competition and the second fastest general, with only Harry Brook’s 41-ball hundred for the Superchargers against Welsh Fire in 2023 that exceeds this Salvo from Perrin. When that was put on her, Perrin laughed, who was hit at the end of the non-striker, laughed and told Sky Sports: “One ball? Damn, I better go to the gym so that I can send those sixes a little further!
“It felt pretty brilliant. It is not every day you can find yourself in that state of electricity and in the zone and it is when you are there, stay in the present and take every ball as they come.”
Perrin looked at about 20 family and friends and squeezed an attack with the English players Issy Wong, Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn to all parts to support the Superchargers’ 214 for five. It was by far the highest total by the team of a woman – the previous best was 181 for three by Welsh Fire when Beaumont made a century – and it was too much for the mind.
Grace Ballinger and Annabel Sutherland claimed three Wickets each to leave the winners of last year briefly at 172 for nine, while Superchargers set up a confrontation with undefeated Southern Brave in the final of Sunday.
