Despite the Windies that launched 13 Sixes – 10 of them straight ahead – Australia limited them thanks to tight dead bowling by Nathan Ellis and Sean Abbott.
Abbott was the striking bowler and only admitted 21 runs in four overs. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell were expensive on the small ground.
Maxwell opened the batting for Australia and hit 20 out of 7 before a miscommunication with Mitch Marsh saw him run out.
Josh Inglis hit a six and ran to 15 out of four balls before he fell on Shepherd, while Marsh (22) and Green (11) also fell cheaply.
Australia looked shaky on 4-92. But David completely turned the game into a matter of overs.
From overs 10 to 12, Australia added 71 points – 66 of them from David’s bat.
The fireworks reminded fans of the heyday of Chris Gayle, with some who hit David’s with ‘paste cricket’ levels.
A fan posted online: “Goodness Me This Tim David Innings is reminiscent of the old Chris Gayle work.”
Another added: “Today he smoked about a dozen balls from the ground, the power of the most top of the top.”
Even with the series already packed, Australia will now chase a 5-0 sweep, extending their current T20-run to eight victories in nine games.
