The gripping success comes only eight months after the Aga Khan, one of Racing’s large owner-breeders, died at 88 in February.
Graffard summarized, Graffard said: “In the past this was just a dream, and now it happens to me.”
Much of the racing of the race had focused on the Japanese attack on the race, but Luck seemed to escape the horses of the nation in the last week before the race with heavy rain that made the soil unfavorable and wide draws that hinder two of his three challengers.
The impact of the draw was again in this year’s bow, with the winner of Stall 2, Minnie Hauk from Stall 1 and Sauce The third was, from stall 3. Moreover, while a rainbow bowed over Parislongchamp when the arch was run, it was only because more rain fell on the runners in the Bois de Boulogne.

He said: “This race has a great reputation, and it can be seen as when you win, it is very, very special. I have achieved a number of big wins, but this is very special, especially this year.
“He was tough. When I was planning to run in York, I told Princess Zahra that we are not going to win, but we have to harden him for autumn, and I think the defeat in York helped us to win today because my horse was very professional and adult for the first time.
“If you have a plan in your head and you can see that the plan works, you leave the race very well – it is a great experience. It was exactly what we were planning to do.
“It’s a big win. I am very lucky that Princess Zahra and her family give me the confidence to train this great horse, and to win the bow with these colors is just crazy.”
Barzalona, who won the Derby (G1) for Coolmore on Pour Moi and the Dubai World Cup (G1) for Godolphin, added a great success to his migration in the side of the Aga Khan Studs, an operation that he was appointed, conservative driver for the arch meeting last year.
