A few years ago, the 32-year-old American announced that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis, a chronic condition.
In early 2024, Collins announced that it would be her last season in professional tennis. The American spoke very openly about her condition at the time and noted that she wanted to fully focus on tackling it. She also admitted that becoming a mother was one of her biggest goals, but endometriosis made it difficult.
Collins has since made a U-turn in her retirement decision, but has continued to undergo treatments for her condition. And now she’s started freezing eggs in hopes of fulfilling her motherhood dreams.
Collins: Freezing eggs is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done
“I just wanted to stop by here and give everyone a little update since everyone has been asking for it. I’ve been taking the last few months off to recover from the back injury I had at the end of the season. I’ve also had a few egg freezing procedures done. It’s been one of the coolest things I’ve honestly ever done! But at the same time, the hormones I’ve had to take have been a real b—-. I’m so happy for the friends who have helped take care of me during this time. I have one more procedure to go,” the American wrote on Instagram.
In the same post, Collins confirmed she would miss the start of the 2026 season. However, the world number 64 also shared that she would be joining Tennis Channel as an analyst for the upcoming tournaments.
Collins didn’t play much this year, as she appeared in just 29 games and posted a 15-14 record.
